When and with whom
This trip was a little bit spontaneous. I simply reached out to my not-sister-in-law and asked if there was anywhere – domestic or international – that she wanted to travel too. Her response was Norway, which was a country that was also on my list. While I hadn’t considered northern Norway during the summer (I thought it was a great winter destination for the northern lights), I’m glad she showed me it was a great place to visit in the summer for the midnight sun!
We booked everything in March and decided to travel at the end of May, before Norway’s peak summer tourism began. This was the same week the midnight sun began in northern Norway and we were fortunate enough to not experience any rain days. The week before we arrived, it had rained all week. However, we did encounter some snow on all of our mountain top hiking. Waterproof shoes were a must!
