Smith Rock State Park, OR
09.12.2021
Located in the dry desert climate of central Oregon and just 30 minutes outside the trendy city of Bend is Smith Rock State Park. Best know as a destination for two extreme sports; high slacklining and rock climbing, this place is also a great spot for a day hike.
We arrived too close to sunset to make the hike all the way up and around Smith Rock, but we definitely would recommend making that effort if we visited again. We did enjoy exploring the trails along the river valley, sniffing the sweet smelling cedar groves, gazing at the stunning rock formations, and constantly looking up in awe at the slackliners having fun above us!
The day pass for this park is $5 and can be purchased on site. We stopped here as part of our 11 day Oregon road trip.
Maps and lots of other useful information can be found on the official Smith Rock State Park website.
