2020 Road Trip West Itinerary
Friday, July 31 to Saturday, August 8, 2020
07.31.20 . Day 1 – Drive through WI and MN. Stay in Sioux Falls, SD.
08.01.21 . Day 2 – Cross South Dakota. Visit Badlands N.P. and Custer S.P. Stay in Rapid City, SD.
08.02.20 . Day 3 – Visit Mount Rushmore. Return to Custer S.P. Visit Crazy Horse. Drive to Fort Collins, CO.
08.03.20 . Day 4 – Explore Rocky Mountain N.P. Stay in Fort Collins, CO.
08.04.20 . Day 5 – Relax. Hike Horsetooth Reservoir. Stay in Fort Collins, CO.
08.05.21 . Day 6 – Drive to and explore Yellowstone N.P. via Grand Tetons. Stay in West Yellowstone, ID.
08.06.20 . Day 7 – Full day in Yellowstone N.P. Stay in Livingston, MT.
08.07.20 . Day 8 – Hike in north Yellowstone N.P. Drive Bear Tooth Pass. Visit Theadore Roosevelt N.P. Stay in Bismarck, ND.
08.08.20 . Day 9 – Drive home.
When and with whom
Just like everybody else’s international trip plans for 2020, mine also had to be cancelled. However, Scott and I go on a bi-annual road trip and we were due to embark on another adventure across the USA! Usually we go during the autumn season but we knew Yellowstone had to be visited during the summer months, so we snatched at the opportunity to visit the iconic National Park. We also visited many other beautiful parks along the way creating one of our favorite road trips to date.
We decided to take this road trip in our Chevy Corvette. It’s fun to drive, totally American, and challenged my packing skills to the max. Hindsight, we have no regrets. Eating out of the iceless cooler that barely fit in the back hatch among our Tetris-packed luggage was one of the most fun aspects of the trip. We have continued to pack most of our food on road trips ever since.
