Finding magic in Grand Tetons is easy, even when the skies are cloudy.

While I would have loved a sky full of color and seeing mountain peaks at all the viewpoints, without it, I was better able to appreciate the wildlife, misty hills, and solitary trails that we did find.

We chose Oxbow Bend for sunrise and nearby Grand View Point Trail to Two Oceans Lake for our morning hike:
5 miles out and back.
1,375 feet elevation gain
A lush mix of wildflower meadows, rolling hills, and wooded trail. And, best of all, this is clearly a less traveled, quiet path.

Who doesn’t love finding a quiet trail?

Big variety and big views during our first full day hiking in Tetons. 🥾🏔️

Delta Lake with its cool blue glacier water in front of Grand Teton made for an epic mid-point lunch spot to our first hike. But it was the in between trail and wildlife that made the day even more memorable. Bears, marmots, wildflowers, thundershowers and more. Nature sure is entertaining.

Hike stats:
Delta Lake via Lupine Meadows Trailhead
7.8 miles out & back
~2,300 feet elevation gain
End of hike elevation: >9,000 feet
We took 6 hours to complete this hike including a long break at the top.

* Delta Lake is not marked on NPS trail signs and be prepared for unmarked and steep rock scramble at the end. Know your limits, and always practice the 7 principles of leave no trace.

There are many textures and odd landscapes to expl

There are many textures and odd landscapes to explore at Craters of the Moon National Preserve and it was well worth a stop on our way through Idaho.

Highlights included hiking through Indianhead cave, exclaiming over the unique flora and fauna, and low crowd levels.

We took a little over 3 hours to explore here and hiked approx 6.5 miles including:
Inferno Cone - 0.4mi
Devil’s Orchard - 0.5mi
Broken Top Loop - 2mi
Spatter Cones and Big Crater - 1.3mi
Caves Trail - 1.8mi
